Employee story Dr. Daniel Weller
Position: Process Engineer
Department: Process Engineering
At ElringKlinger since: 2019
What do you do at ElringKlinger? What are your tasks?
I work as a process engineer in the battery division. Our team is responsible for all process steps at the laser material processing systems. From product development to the sample phases and series production, we support the projects worldwide until we hand them over to the plant.

How did you come to work at ElringKlinger and what made you decide to work here?
Initially, I worked as a research assistant at the university and completed my doctorate in laser material processing. After my doctorate, I wanted to work in a more practical way and therefore decided to make the move into industry. I found an exciting and suitable position here at ElringKlinger.

"I have the opportunity to get actively involved, to shape a lot and to further develop the division."

What do you like most about your work and why?
The Battery Technology division is growing rapidly. I have the opportunity to get actively involved, to shape a lot and to further develop the division. I can work very independently. We also work very closely together, both as a team and across departments.
What makes working at ElringKlinger special?
You get the chance to get to know and use very innovative technologies.
"It motivates me to see that my work achieves visible and tangible results."

What are the essential qualities for a good process engineer?
An interest in new technologies and a hands-on mentality.
What projects are you currently working on?
At the moment, I'm mainly involved in projects for cell contact systems. I find it particularly exciting that we are using an AI filter for optimised component recognition for the first time.
What can be particularly challenging about your work?
I occasionally find it challenging to work with many interfaces. This requires a lot of communication and coordination among each other.

What encourages you to give 100% at work?
It motivates me to see that my work achieves visible and tangible results. I help to ensure that processes run smoothly and eventually run ‘by themselves’. Positive feedback from the team or superiors provides additional motivation.
