Dual study programme in electrical engineering

Employee story Kris butterstein

Position: Dual study programme in electrical engineering
Department: Real Estate & Facility Management
With ElringKlinger since: 2017

What do you do at ElringKlinger? What are your responsibilities?

I am currently completing my dual studies in electrical engineering (specialization: energy and environmental technology) at ElringKlinger. Our team is responsible for the electrical network planning and network infrastructure of all buildings and facilities worldwide. As soon as renovation work or new buildings are planned, we are involved right from the start. We analyse, plan, advise, commission external companies (e.g. engineering firms) on site and accompany the entire process through to project completion.

How did you come up with the idea of studying at ElringKlinger?

At the age of 16, I started my apprenticeship at ElringKlinger as an electronics technician for industrial engineering and was taken on directly after graduating. My supervisor encouraged me to add a dual study programme. To do that, I first made up for a year of my A-levels and then started the dual study programme at ElringKlinger.

"My work is very diverse and ElringKlinger has already opened up many
opportunities for me, such as a visit to the plants in the US."

What do you like most about your work and why?

My work is very diverse and ElringKlinger has already opened up many opportunities for me, such as a visit to the plants in the US. The team is great and with currently 13 colleagues, it's still very much a family atmosphere. I get all the support I need.

What makes studying at ElringKlinger special?

I feel very well mentored here. I receive a lot of support from my team and from the training coordinator. During my training and studies, I have already been able to take part in many further training courses. ElringKlinger also offers you opportunities to try yourself out.

"I feel very well mentored here. I receive a lot of support from my team and from the training coordinator."

What should you bring with you for the study programme?

A passion for mathematics, physics and technology. The motivation to keep learning about new topics. And an open mind to looking at the bigger picture and outside of the box.

How do you see your professional future?

I would like to stay in the building sector and preferably at ElringKlinger. I am keen to get the best possible results, for example in terms of sustainability. I want to create incentives, contribute ideas and make a difference.

Describe yourself in three words.

Inquisitive. Enduring. Open-minded.
