The mobility landscape is undergoing rapid change around the globe, particularly in the automotive region of China. At Auto Shanghai 2025, held from April 23 to May 2 in close proximity to the Group's site in Suzhou, ElringKlinger will be showcasing its latest innovations for the mobility of the future. The product portfolio centered around lightweighting and sealing systems as well as battery and fuel cell technology offers a wide range of solutions geared towards sustainable engineering and design. As a global player, the company will be focusing in particular on its expertise in the battery segment and its capabilities in the field of high-performance plastics technology for e-mobility applications at this year's event.
Dirk Willers, Chief Sales Officer at ElringKlinger: “Remaining close to our customers and being more than just a supplier to car manufacturers worldwide – that is what drives us. As a preferred partner, we want to help shape the mobility of the future by drawing on our unique expertise and innovative product solutions. It is with this in mind that we always focus on delivering added value for our customers when refining our portfolio."
ElringKlinger: Emphasis on strength of innovation and battery expertise to shape e-mobility
“Pioneering Innovative Technologies for a Sustainable Future” – as a global company, ElringKlinger aims to drive change in the mobility industry with innovative technology that breaks new ground. Among the Group's key strengths has always been its capability as an innovator. Building on core competencies that the Group has evolved over decades, ElringKlinger develops new technologies tailored to the very latest requirements.
The ElringKlinger Group's portfolio within the E-Mobility business unit includes various solutions for battery modules based on prismatic or cylindrical cells in both the low-voltage and high-voltage segments as well as complete battery storage systems. Building on this modular approach, the company is able to offer different storage sizes in line with the specific application. This ranges from standard applications with power ratings of 5 kWh to 20 kWh through to high-performance automotive applications in the 100 kWh range and above. At a component level, ElringKlinger supplies cell contacting systems designed to meet the most exacting demands in respect of technology and quality.
Customized lightweighting solutions for improved safety and vehicle dynamics
For ElringKlinger, smart lightweighting is about more than just weight reduction. ElringKlinger's product portfolio within the Lightweighting business unit includes components made of thermoplastics for drivetrain, body, and underbody applications. Hybrid technology, i.e., the combination of different materials such as plastic and metal in one product and manufacturing on the basis of a single tool sequence, also forms an integral part of ElringKlinger's skillset. A prime example of this is the cockpit cross-car beam, a metal forming hybrid beam manufactured by overmolding local metal reinforcements from steel, aluminum, or cast structures.
ElroSeal™-G: Latest innovation from the field of high-performance plastics and sealing technology for e-mobility
ElringKlinger will unveil its latest innovation in the field of sealing technology and high-performance plastics for electric drive systems at Auto Shanghai: ElroSeal™-G. ElroSeal™-G is a rotary shaft seal designed to dissipate induced charges in high-speed applications, helping to improve efficiency in rotating applications such as electric motors, actuators, and electric drivetrain systems, and to extend the life of these components. In this context, plastic compound-based grounding, i.e., earthing, technology was applied as part of the production process. This is specified for low friction, high speed, high pressure, and dry running and oil running conditions as well as high media and temperature resistance. In modern, oil-cooled systems in particular, the new ElroSeal™-G, with its special geometry, can act as a scraper and thus ensure dissipation even under oily conditions. The use of ElroSeal™-G in integrated E-axles with high-speed shafts prevents electrical breakdown in the shaft bearing, even in oil-loaded systems. This also prevents premature wear. Other properties of ElroSeal™-G include low friction and high chemical resistance. The product has been optimized for an extra-long service life; the housing material is made of aluminum or stainless steel.
