Metal-elastomer cylinder-head gaskets
Metal-elastomer cylinder-head gaskets from ElringKlinger are mainly used in commercial vehicle engines and large engines (power plants, ships …). The challenges are varied, and include in particular higher combustion pressures, compression homogenization, greater thermal loads and increased emissions requirements. Our metal-elastomer system provides completely reliable sealing even in ignition pressures up to 290 bar, engine outputs over 2,000 kW and engine runnings times of 1.5 million kilometers.
Robust and durable
The high ignition pressure on engines without bushings or with slip-fit bushings, low screw forces and a low number of screws can be managed reliably with pressing homogenization, for example. The sealing pressure distribution between the combustion chamber and liquid section can thus be pushed further and further towards the combustion chamber. For gas sealing, special steel-bead constructions are used to achieve an even high sealing pressure. Liquid sealing takes place via elastomer sealing lips, which can achieve reliable media sealing with a significantly lower sealing pressure level.
